ECA WA is pleased to introduce Steve Scott as Operations Manager, a role that will help strengthen the support, services, and advice provided to members across Western Australia.

Steve will already be a familiar face to many ECA WA members, contractors, sponsors, and industry stakeholders. For the past 12 months, he has worked as Business Development Manager at ECA WA, spending much of his time meeting with contractors, assisting with membership enquiries, supporting industry relationships, and helping deliver ECA WA’s industry nights across the state.

Before joining ECA WA directly, Steve worked for a company that was a long-term sponsor of the organisation. As a result, his connection with ECA WA and the wider electrical contracting industry extends back around ten years.

“I have been dealing with contractors, sponsors, and other stakeholders for about ten years,” Steve said.

That experience has given Steve a strong understanding of the pressures facing electrical contractors and the importance of accessible, reliable support.

“Whether it was out on the road talking to them, helping them with their business and membership enquiries, or running our regular industry nights, I travelled the length and breadth of WA talking to sparkies.” As Operations Manager, Steve will work to ensure the membership services provided by ECA WA continue to meet the needs of electrical contractors and help them operate safely, efficiently, and successfully.

This includes supporting the delivery of key member services across areas such as technical advice, safety, legal support, business guidance, industry updates, events, and advocacy.

“We have some of the most knowledgeable and experienced operators in the industry, whether that be in technical, safety, or access to our legal team,” Steve said. “My role will be to make sure our members are getting the full benefit of these services.”

One of Steve’s key priorities will be helping members better understand the full range of support available through ECA WA.

“ECA WA has played a central role in the Western Australian electrical industry for nearly 100 years, yet this is something that many are not aware of,” he said. “We know that parts of our membership base are unaware of all the services we provide on a daily basis and, because of that, are potentially not getting the full value offered in their membership.

Steve said the Operations Manager role is, at its core, about support. He will work closely with ECA WA’s Member Services team to help ensure members continue to receive clear, useful, and relevant assistance when they need it.

“Being an electrical contractor isn’t easy, and we play a vital role in providing a level of comfort and support for our members when they need help,” he said.
Steve also wants members, staff, and stakeholders to know that his approach will be direct and honest.

“One thing I have learned over the past ten years is this industry doesn’t tolerate BS,” he said.

“My approach will always be honest and as straight to the point as I can possibly be."

“I hope, in turn, this gives those I come into contact with a licence to do the same. I can handle just about any feedback, good, bad, or ugly, and believe it will only help us improve our service in the long run.”

Outside of work, Steve enjoys trying new pubs, bars, restaurants, and wineries, particularly when there is a good red wine involved. He is also a long-suffering Fremantle Dockers supporter and gets to as many games as he can.

“My only exception to the feedback rule is the Monday morning after a bad Freo loss, you’ve been warned!” Steve said.

With his experience across business development, member engagement, sponsorship, and industry events, Steve brings a strong understanding of ECA WA’s members and the electrical contracting industry to the Operations Manager role.

His appointment will support ECA WA’s continued commitment to helping Western Australian electrical contractors access the advice, services, and industry representation they need.
