Domestic Cooking Appliances

Technical Cooking Appliances

ECA Technical receives many enquiries regarding maximum demand for circuits supplying domestic cooking appliances and in particular induction cooktops. While in most cases it is advisable to install a circuit capable of supplying the name plate rating, due to the nature of operation of cooking appliances it would be unlikely the appliance would reach the full load rating. As a result of this clause C2.5.3 AS/NZS 3000 below has applied an assessed maximum demand.

Before applying this clause it would be advisable to discuss the operation of the appliance with the client as there could be potential for nuisance tripping.
