The College of Electrical Training (CET) welcomes the announcement of new Construction Training Fund (CTF) Capital Grants support, aligned with the State’s decarbonisation and energy transformation priorities, that will help deliver additional electrical training capacity in Western Australia.

The Cook Government has confirmed more than $4 million in capital grants across three projects to expand construction training capability, including funding that supports CET’s new Midland campus, to address demand for additional electrical workers across WA.

CET acknowledges the continued backing of the CTF, the Cook Government, and ECA WA, whose ongoing commitment to workforce development and industry-led training is helping strengthen WA’s skills pipeline for the infrastructure, housing, and energy transition work now underway across the State.

Building local capability for the energy transition

As WA’s economy continues to grow and diversify, demand for qualified electrical workers is increasing across renewable energy, electrification, grid upgrades, building services, and industrial maintenance.

CET’s new Midland campus will support training delivery that responds to these workforce needs, with a focus on job-ready outcomes and strong alignment to industry expectations. The investment also supports broader priorities highlighted in the Grant announcement, including sustainable construction capability and improved access to high-quality training.

The Capital Grant Program is designed to support eligible Registered Training Organisations to deliver capital upgrades that drive workforce outcomes in priority areas, including clean energy skills, sustainable construction, and improved regional access to training.

Recognising industry-backed action

“On behalf of the Electrotechnology Training Institute Limited (ETI Ltd) and CET, we thank the Construction Training Fund, the Cook Government, and ECA WA for their continued support and decisive action for our industry,” stated Mr Carl Copeland, CEO of ETI and CET.

“This funding is a welcome investment in local capability. It will help us expand training capacity in the Midland area and continue delivering high-quality outcomes for apprentices, employers, and the wider electrical sector. We look forward to working closely with our industry partners to ensure this expansion supports the workforce WA needs for the energy transition.”
