NECA ‘Safety Guide for Workers in the Electrical, Communications, Data and Electronic Security Industries 2013’ booklet outlines industry safety standards, rules and guidelines that would assist employees understand their role and health and safety requirements when undertaking a work activity within the workplace. The booklets are issued to each individual employee who complete a company induction and provides in-depth information in various health and safety areas, including technical, safe systems of work, plant and equipment, safe work practices and environmental protection. Employees are expected to read the information and acknowledge that they understand the health and safety requirements, and sign the booklet as a proof of understanding and compliance. NECA has produced a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) book which contains 50 duplicate blank SWMS forms to assist members meet their obligations in regards to hazard identification and management.

NECA provides Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) carbonated booklets for members to ensure step to step work instructions are captured for every work activity at site. The SWMS booklets are designed to encourage members to update their original SWMS, develop new SWMS or outline any identified hazards to each work step. It is a requirement that SWMS are easily accessible to all employees, signed and endorsed by all employees undertaking the work activity and kept as company documents to ensure verification of controls of hazards and risks. The carbonated booklet encourages duplicate copies to be used on site, provide the client with a copy, attach a copy to the site Safety Management Plans and kept as company records for each project completed. Each SWMS form allows for employees to sign off and individually numbered to allow for easy reference for each project site.
