Update on CCS and SAC schemes

ECA WA recently met with Western Power to discuss the Contractor Connect Scheme (CCS) and the Service Apparatus Connection Scheme (SAC). Key updates include:
- Both schemes will continue as normal, subject to new training requirements issued by Western Power.
- The schemes are open to new electrical contractors and workers, but participation is conditional on completing the new training requirements.
- Power Training Skills will begin training for third-party providers in May, with courses expected to be available to industry by June or July.
- New entrants must complete the full five-day training (if pit access is required). Those who previously completed the 1-day SACS course need only complete the 3-day pit training.
- Field audits will be discontinued; annual desktop audits will continue.
- Having a spotter present during connections is not currently a mandatory requirement of the schemes, but this remains under review.
- Broader changes to CCS and SAC may occur in the future.
ECA WA will continue to update members as further information becomes available. If you have any further questions, please call ECA WA Technical on (08) 6241 6100 or email technical@ecawa.org.au.
