The Contractor Connect Scheme, managed by Western Power, enables accredited electrical contractors to connect new electrical installations directly to the distribution network.
Once testing and compliance checks are complete, authorised electrical workers under the scheme can energise installations without requiring direct oversight from Western Power. This reduces delays and empowers contractors to manage connections more efficiently, provided they meet strict competency and compliance standards.
CCS offers two tiers of accreditation: Restricted and Full. Restricted accreditation allows electrical contractors to install and energise builder’s supplies up to certain amperage limits (32A residential, 63A commercial). Full accreditation extends permissions to energise entire consumer installations, provided the installation is completed entirely by the accredited contractor. Full accreditation requires a dedicated supervising electrician on staff to oversee the work of other electricians, ensuring high standards and accountability across all jobs.
The CCS Management Pack is designed to assist electrical contractors in meeting the accreditation requirements of Western Power’s CCS program. The pack includes a professionally structured management plan, a suite of audit tools, worker registers, testing records, safety forms, risk assessments, and key policies covering WHS, fitness for work, emergency response, and inspection procedures.
